If you'd like to split text on any canvas in your site into multiple columns you can do so with a few clicks! This doc will show you how to use the text column tool successfully in your Showit site.

A Few Things to Note:

  • Multiple columns are only available on the Desktop view, not Mobile. (Mobile layout isn’t wide enough to reasonably accommodate more than 1 column.)

  • Column quantity is limited to 1, 2, 3, or 4 columns. (More than 4 columns would cause the columns to be too narrow and decrease readability)

  • Column Gap is a new field that shows up when 2, 3, or 4 columns are set. This is the width (in pixels) of the gap between the columns. The default value is 30px.

  • Multiple columns cannot be set for text boxes that are set to WordPress Placeholders on blog templates.

Adding Text Columns

To add a text column, simply select any existing text box in your site or add a new one to the canvas.

Click to select the text box you wish to turn into columns. Once selected, you'll see the column settings appear under the "Text Style" tab as shown below.

Use these controls to select the number of columns you'd like to split your text into and set the column gap width as shown below.

That's all there is to it! You now have column text in your design!
