Yes! WooCommerce is a great WordPress based shop solution for users on a Showit Advanced Blog subscription.

WooCommerce & Showit

Most users will find that their Showit template already includes the required blog templates to be plug-and-play ready with WooCommerce. And for users who already have a WooCommerce shop, it's a breeze to migrate over to Showit.

Showit works well with WooCommerce's default output product page layout. Users who want to customize the product page layout may need to use an additional plugin to customize the layout.

Things to Know

  • Individual product pages will by default use the Single Post template for their layouts. Alternatively, you can create a unique page design to be used as an individual product page. (see here)

  • A 'Page' blog template is required for the Shop, Cart, Checkout, and Taxonomy pages to render correctly. (see here)

  • ⚠️ WooCommerce Product Reviews are not supported by the Showit theme. (Must use a third-party plugin like (YITH WooCommerce Advanced Reviews)

Migrating a current WooCommerce store?

  • ⚠️ Before you start a blog migration process please turn off purchasing on your store. The Woo Store Vacation plugin is a good option for doing this. It can be reactivated once fully switched over to the Showit server.

Create Product Page Template

By default, WooCommerce will use the same layout for product pages as your Single Post layout. Alternatively you can setup a single-product custom template in Showit to define a layout that will be used for all product pages.

  1. Create a new blog template (we suggest duplicating a Page or Single Post layout to start).

  2. Customize to include the Post Title placeholder (will display product name) and Post Content Placeholder (will display product description/details/buy options, managed by WooCommerce)

  3. Set the WordPress Template setting to Custom. enter single-product as the custom template name.

  4. When live, Publish your change to apply it to your WordPress blog.

*Requires an Advanced Blog subscription
***Showit does not offer support for setting up or operating third-party plugins, including WooCommerce. We also cannot be responsible for changes that the plugin developers release which may break compatibility with our Showit theme.

Pro Tip: If you're looking for a simple store option we suggest Shopify Starter for embedding single item buy buttons directly onto Showit pages using our Embed Code widget or a Basic Shopify account to host a separate online store under a subdomain like shop.yourdomain.com
